SDSU Tour for Seniors, the Mature Kind, Slated by Adult Enrichment Center

Weather reports call for a cloudy weekend. Take advantage of the cool weather and get out! Besides, there are only two more weekends left until the unofficial end of summer.

This weekend, Aug. 19-21, La Mesa has some great activities and entertainment available for all ages. Seniors can take a trip over to SDSU, young adults can laugh out loud to some local stand-up and the whole family can enjoy a concert on the green.

Head over to Santee and bob your head to some heavy metal music or take the family to the lakes for Toy Story 3. Travel to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for some food-truck fun and a concert by Devo, where you’ll sing some ironic lyrics after the horse races.

BEST BETS CLOSE TO HOME

• When/where: La Mesa Adult Enrichment Center, 8450 La Mesa Blvd., La Mesa, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday.
• Why go: Feel young again! Seniors can take a trip (via the trolley) to SDSU for a campus tour, which will include lunch on campus.
• Price: $10.

• When/where: @Spacebar Internet Café, 7454 University Ave., La Mesa, 8 p.m. Friday.
• Why go: Watch stand-up comedians, including Gina Manning and Kathleen Finney.
• Price: Free.

• When/where: Sycuan Resort, 3007 Dehesa Rd., El Cajon, 6-9 p.m. Friday.
• Why go: Listen to the BlueFrog Band in the beautiful outdoor weather and munch on some BBQ.

• Why go: Take your family, picnic blanket, folding chairs and snacks (and tissues!) to the park for a showing of Toy Story 3

• Why go: Rock out to some heavy metal music (like AC/DC, Poison and Motley Crue) by a tribute band.

• Why go: Choose from more than 45 gourmet food trucks to try out—there’s everything imaginable, from kebabs to grilled cheese, crepes to burgers.
