  • Why Go: If it's going to be hopelessly wet all weekend, why not take heart by listening to the Sam Johnson Jazz Duo on Feb. 18, followed the next day with an acoustic set from a local artist. And hey, the coffee will keep you warm, if not dry.

  • Where/when: San Diego County Annex, San Diego, 8 a.m. Feb. 19.
  • Why Go: The county confiscates things. Then they auction them. You benefit, if you're in the market for used cars, electronics and other household goods.

  • Where/when: San Diego Convention Center, downtown San Diego, 9:30 a.m., Feb. 19
  • Why Go: To learn about bone, joint and back health, and injury prevention. Orthopaedic surgeons in town for their annual conference offer free sessions and will participate in a Q-and-A from the audience. 
  • Price: Free
  • Where/when: In Cahoots, San Diego, 12 p.m., Feb. 19
  • Why Go: Young adults have increasingly embraced a game from their childhoods: dodgeball. Now there's tournaments available for them to fight it out for playground supremacy. Case in point: DodgeBrawl, a fundraiser to benefit the Mission Valley YMCA.
