'Flying A,' Flowers and a Fashion Fundraiser Among Weekend Events

Your Patch guide to happiness for the weekend of 12-14, 2011.

The weekend is almost in reach. Have your days off planned out? No worries; we have a list of the weekend’s best bets.

This weekend, Aug. 12-14, stay in La Mesa for plenty of fun and feel-good activities. Learn all about a local movie studio and its contributions to La Mesa, take a whiff of a plumeria garden and attend a fashion fundraiser for local teen pageants.

If you’re itching to get out of town, there’s a workshop to avoid home foreclosure nearby or you can go see Jimmy Eat World in concert at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. You can also be Italian for the day downtown with a masquerade party.

Whatever you do this weekend, have fun. And don't forget to try to catch the Perseid meteor shower, which will peak Saturday night, but might be hard to find because of the bright moon.
