Twi-Lite: A Breaking Dawn Eclipse of the Full Moon…with 1/3rd Less Teen Angst!

A show poking fun at the current worldwide Twilight craze will have its San Diego premiere at The Encore Theater in Spring Valley for eight performances September 7-16, 2012. Billed as a “comedy spoof rock musical melodrama,” the family-friendly show is entitled “Twi-Lite” or “a breaking dawn eclipse of the full moon…with a third less teen angst!” and is an original production of the Golden Garter Family Comedy Theater.

“Everyone has an opinion about Twilight,” explains the show’s writer-director Steve Taylor, “Some people are obsessed by it, some people hate it and some people have no idea what it’s all about exactly. Our show is for all three groups,” continues Taylor. “If you hate ‘Twilight’ you’ll love our show because we make over-the-top fun of it. If you’re a fan of ‘Twilight’ you’ll love our show because you’ll recognize all of the funny and subtle references. And if you’re ‘Twilight’ neutral, you’ll love our show because it’s a classic melodrama play where you can still ‘boo the villain’ and ‘cheer the hero’.”

Taylor also emphasized that although the show deals with some of the same themes of the books and movies, it will be handled tastefully so everyone from 5 to 105 can attend without fear of something inappropriate popping up. “We always strive for a ‘G’ to mild ‘PG’-rated show  so the whole family can attend together and three generations can all come and laugh side by side,” adds Taylor. “Much like the old ‘Muppet Show’ and current ‘Toy Story’ movies, we provide a show clever enough for adults and clean enough for kids.”
