Thousands of local residents packed a closed-down Troy Street in Spring Valley Sunday for the annual Spring Valley Tailgate & BBQ Festival. Now in its third year, the event featured 13 amateur backyard barbecue teams, vying for grilling guru supremecy.
In addition, the BBQ teams sold samples of their BBQ for $2 each, as a way to help raise money for youth sports clubs and organizations in Spring Valley.
The teams competed in five categories: Tri-tip, pork ribs, chicken, carne asada, and Best Tailgate (decor.)

The People's Choice Award went to Chandlers Bangin' BBQ, who sold the most samples, half of which will be donated to youth sports benefactors. The Best Tailgate Award went to BBQ for Boobies, for its all pink Breast Cancer Awareness tent.
The Grand Champion team was WGW, who had the highest cumulative score for all categories.
