Spread the Love: Church Hosts Turkey Giveaway

A Spring Valley Church is hosting a block party this weekend that gives turkeys away to needy families.

‘Tis the season to love and a local church in Spring Valley knows it.

New Seasons Church is hosting a community event that will provide free turkeys, clothes and a food distribution from the San Diego Food Bank and Feeding America San Diego to 2,000 needy families. The event is called the “Season of Love” and everyone is invited.

The turkey giveaway event will also feature live music, children’s entertainment and a free lunch for attendees. Local nonprofits will host a resource fair in conjunction with the event that will provide information on community resources available to those in need.

According to the church’s website, last year’s event hosted 1,152 families and 473 volunteers. Around 1000 turkeys, 28,000 lbs food and 11,000 lbs of chicken were donated and this year’s expectancy is 3,000 families. San Diego Food Bank, Feeding America San Diego, Walmart and Sprouts Market (formerly Henry's) will sponsor the free food distribution.

The block party happens on Saturday at New Seasons Church, which is located at 2300 Bancroft Dr, Spring Valley. Everyone is invited to the event, which runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. RSVP by calling 619-463-0725 or RSVP online and make a donation to this great turkey giveaway. Everyone deserves a hot turkey on Thanksgiving.

I wasn't able to come in stand in line, due to back illness. Do you know any one that's giving away turkey's? God Bless!
