Photos: Taste of La Mesa 2013 Satisfies the Senses

Hundreds of business and restaurant owners, civic leaders and La Mesa residents packed into the La Mesa Community Center to sample fare from some of the city's most popular restaurants.

The 5th Annual Taste of La Mesa brought together more than 35 local eateries and packed the La Mesa Community Center full of noshers Monday night.

The event is a community favorite presented by the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce. The community center parking lot can't hold all the cars, so a free shuttle is provided from a parking lot near city hall, and the event takes up two large rooms.

Some of my favorite dishes of the night included jerk chicken from Laylah's Patties & Jerk, curried chicken salad fromTerra American Bistro, berry tiramisu from Trattoria Tiramisu, a simple but delicious steak and vinaigrette salad from The Vine Cottage, and novel taro pulled chicken tacos from Continental Catering.

The list of participating restaurants was the biggest in the event's history, and featured many La Mesa-area favorites:
