Photo Gallery: Safety Officers Appreciation Dinner

Local professionals and volunteers receive complimentary event to show them that the community cares.

On Friday, May 20, the 12th annual  Safety Officers Appreciation Dinner was held at to pay community tribute to the law enforcement professionals, senior volunteer patrol members and firefighters who safeguard the Spring Valley, Mount Helix, Lemon Grove and Rancho San Diego neighborhoods.

Co-hosting the event was Kiwanis Club of Lemon Grove, Kiwanis Club of Spring Valley and the Spring Valley Chamber of Commerce. San Diego Gas & Electric was the signature sponsor for the night.

James Gamboa, a deserving student in the well-respected Administration of Justice Program at Grossmont Community College, was presented with several Certificates of Recognition, including the Kiwanis Peace Officer Appreciation Scholarship of $500.

Also receiving several Certificates of Recognition was Robert Dreyer, who received the Richard H. Allen Senior Volunteer Patrol Award, among many others.

Chris Heiserman was the main speaker for the night. San Diego County Undersheriff James Cooke delivered the Keynote Address and vocal entertainment was provided by Bob Spencer.

Local 2011 pageant winners from Spring Valley, Lemon Grove and College Grove helped serve dinner and dessert. They also helped to deliver raffle prizes to those holding the lucky ticket.
