Patch Pledges $250 to La Mesa Historical Society Via Facebook Drive

We'll write centennial-boosting group a check if our Facebook page hits 1,000 Likes by Dec. 15.

In this season of thanks, Patch is sharing our gratitude for readers and social media followers—and giving you a chance to turn this appreciation into cash.

We’ll donate $250 to the La Mesa Historical Society if we reach 1,000 Facebook Likes by midnight Dec. 15. As of Nov. 22, we had 805 Likes on our Facebook page.  If we fall short of 1,000, we’ll donate $100 to this major force behind La Mesa Centennial celebrations.

“The La Mesa Historical Society appreciates the La Mesa-Mount Helix Patch for its generous donation and its commitment to our community,” said James Newland, the group’s vice president.

“The society welcomes those who wish to help us meet our mission of preserving and educating on the unique and fascinating history of La Mesa and its neighboring communities.  The society regularly puts on events such as historical roundtable lectures and its annual Home Tour, along with public traveling exhibits in addition to operating the historic McKinney House Museum and collecting for and sharing the Palermo Archives of La Mesa History (open Saturdays 1-4pm).  Volunteer opportunities are available.”

Patch uses Facebook to connect with the community. We listen as well as talk.
