Nominate A Local Hero for A Grossmont Healthcare Award

Do you know a healthcare hero? If so, the Grossmont Healthcare District wants to hear from you.

The district is accepting nominations for its 2014 Healthcare Heroes Awards, which "recognize and reward front-line volunteer caregivers and other individuals who help advance the delivery of healthcare and improve the quality of life for East County residents."

Who are these unsung heroes in our midst? They're volunteer firefighters and members of service clubs. They write grants and provide pastoral care. They're health care educators and policy advocates.

You might be sitting next to a hero right now!

The district's awards program is in its eighth year, and depends on nominations from the community.

“We solicit the assistance of all East County residents because we want to recognize those unsung heroes of healthcare whose work might not otherwise be recognized,” Dr. Michael T. Long, GHD board president, said in an announcement.

“We want to honor those volunteers whose extraordinary care and selfless dedication inspires others to produce measurable outcomes that provide for a healthier East County community.”

This year's awards will be presented May 14 at a luncheon at Steel Canyon Golf Club in Jamul.

The deadline to submit entries is 3 p.m. Feb. 24. Nomination forms can be mailed or hand delivered to Grossmont Healthcare District, c/o Healthcare Heroes, 9001 Wakarusa St., La Mesa, CA 91942. The fax number is 619-825-5051.

The nomination form can be found on the district's web site at http://grossmonthealthcare.org/.
