New Sidewalks, Fall Classes, and Construction Updates Top City Newsletter

Inside the August 2013 edition:

• A community bike rodeo is being held at the end of August for local kids of all ages. Bike owner can brush up on safety skills and practice safe riding at Nan Couts Cottage (5054 Memorial Dr.) August 31 from 9-11 a.m.

• Enrollment for City of La Mesa fall recreation classes began Aug. 1. Click here to see what's available.

• La Mesa Police Dept. is celebrating National Night Out on August 6 with an Emergency Preparedness Fair from 6-8 p.m. at Grossmont Center.

• Construction Updates:

Sidewalks will be installed on the east side of Glen St. and the street resurfaced between Alpine and Lemon Ave. Elementary.

Storm drains beneath Baltimore Dr. will be relined.

The traffic signal and intersection at University and Massachusetts Avenues will be improved with a new area to turn left and a new crosswalk.

• La Mesa has a newly updated General Plan approved by the City Council in July. It is described as being "revised to become more meaningful and relevant based on the current state of the city, with an eye toward the future." Learn more about the plan here.
