See the most recent edition and archives of La Mesas Focus, the official city newsletter for residents.

Inside the July 2013 edition:

• Beat the heat at Cool Zones- The La Mesa Adult Enrichment Center (8450 La Mesa Blvd) and the La Mesa Library are both designated as “Cool Zone” refuges from the stifling summer heat.

• The City of La Mesa is looking for City residents age 13 to 20 to serve on the Youth Advisory Commission. Call Recreation Supervisor Michele Greenberg-McClung at 667-1333 for more information.

• Reminders from the La Mesa Police Department to "hide, lock it or lose it," to prevent car burglaries, and with summer heat picking up, take precautions to prevent home burglaries. Close and lock all doors and windows when you're not home or sleeping. Leaving windows cracked can help criminals burglarize your home.

• New Public Fitness Plaza- The Porter Park Fitness Plaza (La Mesa Boulevard and University Avenue) adjacent to the La Mesa Adult Enrichment Center, offers four pieces of gym-type equipment designed for an outdoor park setting that is free to use seven days a week by the public. It opened on May 29.

• Park improvements- Renovation of the playground at Northmont Park (6030 Severin Dr) and the addition of a new picnic area with shaded tables will be added, along with walkway improvements in the park. Expected to be completed in the fall.
