Mosher Field Placed Among Tops in San Diego Area Sports Sites

What are your memories of Mosher Field? Did you play there? Do your kids?

Mosher Field has been ranked among the top sports sites in the region, according to a report.

U-T San Diego cites the nostalgia aspect of the field on Mount Helix – which helped spawn the nickname, “America’s most baseball-happy town,” as La Mesa was once described – as a reason for it taking the number 26 slot on a list of 50 San Diego area diamonds, stadiums, arenas and other sports venues.

The community, according to the report, produced regional Little League champions, a Northern Little League World Series champ and a Little League World Series champ about 50 years ago.

Ever wonder where the motto, “La Mesa: City of Champions,” came from? Mosher Field played a role.
