Medical Miracle Sits at Starbucks: Diamond Moore Tells His Story

Vacationer suffered a brain aneurism while traveling from San Diego to Tucson.

If you see Diamond Moore at the Starbucks on La Mesa Boulevard, take a good look. You’re gazing on a medical miracle, according to his neurologist.

Last September, Moore suffered a brain aneurism on a Greyhound bus that was traveling from San Diego to Tucson. And instead of a weeklong vacation with friends as he planned, he spent two months at a rehabilitation center where he practiced bowling, of all things.

“They had everyone exercising on the Wii,” said Moore, who lives on Date Street. “I was beating everyone in bowling. As a matter of fact, I had the high score and I don’t think anybody beat it.”

Not only were his doctors flabbergasted by Moore living through a normally fatal condition, but they also were astonished that he didn’t lose any of his faculties as a result.

“They were shocked because I recovered so quickly,” Moore said. “I still have my memory, and know how to write and all that stuff. I’m thankful to still be alive.”
