La Mesa Library Offers Classes to Help People Load Up Brand New Tablets

Whether you have a Kindle, iPad, Nook or Surface, the La Mesa branch will have classes Jan. 6 and Jan. 20 to teach you how to use your new device.

The San Diego County Library recently made the following announcement.

They were the hot gift of this holiday season: tablets and e-book readers. For the many people who lucked out and unwrapped one of the big prizes, the next steps are loading them up and learning to use them.

The San Diego County Library can help with both tasks.  It has thousands of e-books available for download, from recent best sellers like Gone Girl and Unbroken to classics like Black Beauty and The Call of the Wild to how-to guides. Just like any library book, they’re all free of charge and accessible to anyone with a County Library card.

The La Mesa library will offer "how-to" classes on Jan. 6 and Jan. 20.

“Keeping up with technology and making sure materials are available in the form our customers want is essential to our goal of creating informed communities,” said Library Director José Aponte.

You’ll find e-books for all the major devices, such as the Kindle, iPad, and Nook, though not all titles are available for all devices.  Browse the collection

And if this whole world is as new to you as the gift you just received, the Library has plenty of help. Their e-book page has written instructions and video tutorials for all the major readers.

If you’re looking for more personal instruction, the Library regularly holds e-book workshops at its branch libraries. They are just part of the variety of computer classes the Library offers.

E-book classes for adults are scheduled for the following branches in January. You can visit the branch libraries page for contact information for each library.
