Free Christmas Tree Recycling Available

Curbside pickup is available for single-family residences served by EDCO.

A Christmas tree is a favorite symbol of the holiday, often adorned with prized ornaments from the past along with new additions as the years roll by.

While many people choose to leave the tree up for a few days after the 25th, even the most die-hard Christmas fan will eventually have to undecorate it and get it out of the house before it turns into a fire hazard.

Single-family residences served by EDCO can set their tree curbside on their scheduled collection day through Jan. 16. Trees need to be stripped of all lights and decorations and cut into pieces no longer than 4 feet in length.

They can be placed in a Go Green recycling can, or bundled together with twine. Bundles should not exceed 4 feet by 18 inches.

Tree stands need to be taken off as well. Flocked trees will be accepted.

Organic decorations like wreaths and garlands can also be put into yard-waste containers, but no wood that has been pressure treated or painted with lead-based paint should be included.
