Fletcher Parkway's Alterra Apartments Becoming More Parent-Friendly, Too

Also: Early enrollment for youth aquatics and celebrating a San Diego legal victory

Although the promotional flier asks whether you’re craving excitement, anyone who’s parenting a young child probably could use more sleep than anything.

Still, the Alterra Parents Club is seeking fellow stay-at-home moms and dads to attend its inaugural meeting at 11 a.m. Thursday in the clubroom of the apartment complex  at 8727 Fletcher Parkway.

Although it’s a potluck, keep in mind dishes need to be “kid-friendly finger food for all to enjoy.” Call 619-466-2200 for more information.

AQUA TEAM YOUNGER FORCE: If groundhogs can be trusted, spring should be upon us in no time. As such, it’s time to enroll for Spring Youth Aquatics Classes with the La Mesa Community Services Department. Aquatics classes include infant/toddler swimming, pre-school water games and lessons geared toward various swimming levels. Early enrollment ends March 13. Check out the city’s website for more information.

ZONIES BITE THE LEGAL EAGLE DUST: Finally: This past weekend I had the pleasure of accompanying two California Western School of Law mediation teams to Pepperdine to compete against law students from five other schools: Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Arizona State University, UC Berkeley, University of LaVerne College of Law and Pepperdine University.

As one of the coaches for the teams—my co-coach was attorney Jack Green—it was the best gift to hear that it would be an all-California Western School of Law final on Sunday. It was especially meaningful because our San Diego teams— comprising Anastasia Martin, Adam Stone, Amy Hsiao and San Diego State University alum Dwayne Crenshaw—finally broke ASU’s years-long winning streak. Martin and Stone wound up winning the final competition, and will advance to April’s national competition in Denver.
