Chilly Storm Brings Heavy Rain, Hail and Possibly Snow
Showers are expected to continue into the evening Friday before dwindling early Saturday morning. Snow is possible in the mountains.
A chilly storm out of the Gulf of Alaska doused the San Diego area with moderate to heavy rain for a second day Friday, along with bursts of hail.
The showers were expected to continue Friday evening before dwindling early Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Over a 24-hour period ending at 6 p.m., the blustery cloud banks dropped 1.34 inches of rain at Lindbergh Field.
Hailstones, some the size of dimes, pelted various locales in the county, including Del Mar and Rancho Bernardo, meteorologist Cynthia Palmer said.
Snowfall will be possible tonight above the 5,500-foot level, according to Palmer.
Saturday will be drier, with a chance of showers lingering through the region, the Weather Service reported. Sunday should mark the beginning of a clearing and warming spell, though more cool and possibly wet conditions are likely to arrive just in time for the long Thanksgiving weekend, the Weather Service advised.
