Cat Looking to Lure You into Adoption After Being Found with Fishhook Through Tongue

It won’t take much to get you ‘hooked’ on this story.

A cat with a fishhook through her tongue was turned in to the San Diego County Department of Animal Services shelter in Bonita Wednesday.

“A good Samaritan found her and brought her to the shelter,” said Animal Services Deputy Director Dan DeSousa. “Our veterinary staff at the shelter sedated her and the barbed hook was removed without causing further damage.”

Shelter staff dubbed her “Catfish.” They are unsure how she ended up with the hook embedded in her tongue.

The cat was found in the street in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue in Spring Valley.

Catfish will be available for adoption on a first-come, first-adopt basis on Tuesday, July 15.

If you are interested in adopting, there are also plenty of adult cats currently available at Animal Services shelters.

Cats over 1 year old are currently available through a “name your price” special.

The adult cats come spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, micro chipped, FIV and FeLV tested and include a free follow-up exam.

“Adopting an adult cat is the perfect fit for a lot of families,” said DeSousa. “They are not as hyperactive as kittens can be and require less supervision and care.

“It’s perfect for someone who works because an adult cat is can be perfectly content by itself while you are at work for the day.”

The “name your price” adoption special on adult cats goes through July 31.
