It’s never too early to plan a path for entering the blossoming health care field. San Diego State University’s College of Extended Studies is offering both in-class and online professional health care certificate and certification programs during the upcoming spring semester to help individuals prepare for these lucrative careers.
Now is a great time to enter the field because health care jobs continue to be popular. In fact, aol.com noted that health care has grown twice as fast as the national economy over the past few years.
In its latest projections, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the following:
“The health care and social assistance industry is expected to generate the ‘largest number of jobs, 5.6 million, at an annual rate of 3.0 percent’ between now and 2020 - the most dramatic growth compared to any sector in the country.”
SDSU’s College of Extended Studies has programs that will qualify students to enter the health care field in as little as six months. These courses are hands-on and teach practical and needed skills, and are scheduled for working adults and taught by industry experts.
The College will offer on-campus training for clinical medical assistant, EKG technician certification and pharmacy technician during the spring semester. Online courses include dialysis technician and EKG technician.
In addition, SDSU’s College of Extended Studies offers an online Professional Certificate in Sports Nutrition and Performance. This innovative and comprehensive web-based certificate program provides an in-depth examination of contemporary nutritional topics such as meal plan analysis, functional food implementation, antioxidants, public nutrition, sports nutrition, vitamin supplementation, and weight management.
