La Mesa seniors benefit from exercise, April 23

The Grossmont Healthcare District’s Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, 9001 Wakarusa St. in La Mesa, will host a free senior discussion group presentation titled “The Benefits of Exercise,” from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23. The public is invited to attend, and RSVP is not required. The speaker will be Susan Sale, exercise physiologist with Sharp Grossmont Hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation program.

The discussion on April 23 will consist of an interesting and informative presentation and demonstration of the overall benefits of exercise. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes for a mini exercise session. Research show that as we age, exercise and physical activity are important components of heart health and overall health. Exercise also can help lower risks for some diseases and conditions, according to health experts.
