Rogers has also been awarded the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Officer of the Year for two consecutive years.

His commitment is anchored in his understanding of the devastating impact that drunk driving has on the community.

Because of Department staffing shortages, he has worked overtime almost every week and even responds to calls for assistance while on vacation; all without complaint.

Officer Rogers consistently assists with accident investigations and he is frequently sought out by fellow officers because of his expertise with DUI arrests, accident investigations, and narcotics.

With five years of previous law enforcement service, Officer Ryan Rogers is an eight-year veteran of the La Mesa Police Department.

His peers see him as the ultimate team player and a true leader. During that time, he has significantly contributed to community safety, assisted the Department’s staffing shortages, and assisted fellow officers with calls, arrests, reports and investigations.

On July 23, the Scottish Rite Valley of San Diego will be honoring Rogers, along with 13 outstanding officers from each of San Diego’s police districts at their 22nd Annual Law Enforcement Awards.

San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman will present the keynote address and at the culmination of the evening, one officer will be selected as the “Scottish Rite’s Officer of the Year” and will be presented with a plaque,  monetary award, and a traveling trophy to be displayed at the winner’s station during the year.

For 22 consecutive years, the Scottish Rite of San Diego Valley has made it a priority to properly recognize these men and women who are true pillars of the San Diego community, in addition to acknowledging the daily sacrifice of our law enforcement’s family members.

Each year, the Scottish Rite requests that each of San Diego’s municipal jurisdictions nominate their top officer based on bravery and service that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

A board of Scottish Rite members with experience in law enforcement reviews each nomination to then determine which officer will receive the top honor and a monetary prize .

This year’s awards dinner will be held at the Scottish Rite Center, 1895 Camino del Rio South, San Diego.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The awards ceremony will begin at approximately 6:45 p.m. Tickets cost  $15 per person and reservations must be made no later than Friday, July 18. For reservations or more details please call 619-293-4888 or email patsy@sdc-src.org.
