Students Excel in Math at the Library

Multiplication League graduates have increased their multiplication table skills by 34% at the Casa de Oro Branch Library.

19 students from Spring Valley were honored yesterday at the Casa de Oro Branch Library with a graduation ceremony highlighting their achievements and completion of the “Multiplication League.”  Of those in attendance were 3rd graders who were honing their multiplication table skills, while a bulk of the students were 2nd graders, who had no formal training and were starting from scratch.

During the ceremony, each student was awarded a Library Champion Award signed by the Library Director, Jose Aponte, and their instructor, Ms. Mae Cofield, praised them for their hard work throughout the 12 week period. A slideshow of photos was presented to the kids and their parents.

Ms. Cofield thanked the parents for making the commitment to bring their child to the library every week and told them they could all be proud of the improvement the children had made.  Collectively, the kids increased their scores by 34%.  8 of the students had perfect scores by the end of the program. 3 students improved their individual scores by over 64%
