Walk This Way: Wine-Tasting at Village Shop Will Benefit 3-Day Team

Local women tapping creativity to raise $2,300 each for Susan G. Komen event in November.

A group of women from La Mesa and Spring Valley have gotten creative in their fundraising efforts for this year’s Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk. (They’re expected to raise $2,300 each.) They’ve hosted a gold refinery party, a scentsy party and also sold silpada.

Up next is a wine-tasting at San Pasqual Winery in The Village.

“We’ve been trying to do things in a way where people can come and have a party or buy things to donate,” said La Mesan Bethany Hall, the newest member of  The Pink Roses, their walking team.

Hall is joining Candice Brown, Maryann Toback and Toback’s mother, Rose Clement, who’s been cancer-free for a year and will walk as a survivor.

“Today Rose is doing really well,” Hall said. “She’s healthy enough to walk in the 3-Day.”

The wine-tasting begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 4, and costs $25 for up to seven pours of wine. Light refreshments, raffles and a grand prize also are planned. San Pasqual will donate 20 percent of all wine sales and $15 of all ticket sales to the cause.

The San Diego edition of the 3-Day Walk (60 miles total) is Nov. 18-20, 2011.
