Carlsbad scored first and last—and once in between—to defeat host Grossmont High School 3-1 in the first round of the CIF San Diego Division I soccer playoffs, advancing to a game Friday at top-seeded San Pasqual High School in Escondido. Jeff Riccitelli’s Lancers beat Gabe Fleming’s Foothillers by scoring in the 19th and 38th minutes of the first 40-minute half and near the end of the game Tuesday night. About two dozen family members and friends made the trip from North County for the game, which started near sundown and finished with injury time under the lights. Senior Ivan Gorgees was the lone scorer for Grossmont—in the 11th minute of the second half.  Scott Oakes, Ruben Gonzales and Jared Marr scored for the Lancers. No. 8 seed Carlsbad boosted its record to 13-8-6, while No. 9 Grossmont ended the season at 11-5-8. After the game, the only question left was put by a coach: “What do you guys feel like? In-N-Out?”
